Slamming - Ξένια Κογχυλάκη
Open Ηοuse Festival – Dance House Lemesos
Open Ηοuse Festival – Dance House Lemesos
A sweaty ritual. A dance performance exploring the anarchic, adrenaline-soaked behaviour of a crowd at a punk rock concert, in search of the radical sense of aliveness and the invisible rules of solidarity that accompany it.
Based between Athens and Berlin, Xenia Koghilaki continues her research into the choreographic dynamics of concert crowds. In Slamming, she and two other performers bring mosh pit practices onto the stage, creating a ritualistic dance that moves between rage and tenderness, violence and trust, pain and pleasure.
Slamming explores the emotional nuances and collective energy that lie beneath the crowd’s apparent aggression, approaching collective movement as a site of experience and a practice of resistance.
The presentation of the Performance was supported by the Onassis Stegi Touring Program.
