Antilogos Theatre
Antilogos Theatre presents the stage adaptation of Brandy Sour, the award-winning novel by Konstantia Sotiriou. The production brings to life stories from the once-glamorous, now abandoned Ledra Palace Hotel, a landmark that has remained an enduring point of reference for generations of Cypriots. Bringing together Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot actors and audiences, the production bridges past and present, piecing together the complex mosaic of contemporary Cyprus.
The Ledra Palace, which over the years welcomed celebrities, artists, politicians, guerrilla fighters and soldiers, peacekeepers and negotiators, takes centre stage in a story in which it has long played a defining role.
Through a shared narrative unfolding in a bilingual setting that embraces both standard Greek and Turkish, along with their respective Cypriot dialects, the production gives voice to the stories of people who lived through times of splendour, decline and division. Taking the historic Ledra Palace and the people who visited it, worked there, or simply passed by as its point of departure, the production becomes an exploration, on stage, of our identity and our history.
