Acts We Perform
Flash Festival
Flash Festival
A selection of films from the 7th edition of Queer Wave, exploring the relationship between performance and performativity. Objects, bodies, individuals, collectives and artists engage with questions of confidence, gender, sexuality and belonging, alongside the normalisation of a genocide and acts of resistance against the forces that constrain us.
Queer Wave is Cyprus’s LGBTQIA+ Film Festival. It began in 2020 with a pilot online edition, responding to the need for connection and shared experiences during a period of isolation. Its mission is to celebrate, empower, challenge and inspire, both within and beyond queer communities, creating new perspectives through cinema and the arts. By its seventh edition in 2026, the festival had presented more than 300 LGBTQIA+ films from around the world in their Cyprus premieres. Through activities in Nicosia, south and north of the Green Line, within the buffer zone and in other parts of Cyprus, Queer Wave aims to bring communities closer together — one film at a time.
